Ginny, our middle daughter, had searched the different dog breeds and finally decided the only dog she really wanted was a Shih Tzu. Ginny and I went in search for that little dog. We brought home Ziek, a black and white male Shih Tzu, for an over night try out. We took him to Christopher's room to show him what we had. Chris, our youngest son, said he'd keep him in his room with him while we fixed supper. When we called everyone for supper Chris informed us that Ziek was going to be his dog. Ziek's personality was addicting and within a few months we were all looking to buy our own Shih Tzu. Now we offer that same addiction to you.

God has blessed me with abundant energy, so busy is who I am. Raising our 6 children and umpteen teenage foster girls and a few foster boys has always fit my energy level well. I decided at 65 I would make some changes. I stopped doing foster care in February of this year, 2012, and at the end of this year we will turn the youth leadership program over to young families with children.
I love our children, in-laws, grandchildren, and all the foster children who still call me mom. I love animals. We have horses, chickens, cats, and dogs. I still want a shorthorn roan heifer. I really enjoy taking care of the dogs and puppies for our business and doing the website. I am also a gardener, landscaper, Transpersonal Hypnotherapist, amateur photographer and I love cutting hair. I also love cooking healthy meals, sewing, knitting, crocheting, I love carpentry, and I love learning.
Most of all I love God in my life.
This is Christopher and his shop dog, Ziek. Ziek was the first Shih Tzu to come live at the Coolmans'. Look where we've gone from there. Ziek is a neutered male. He's big on size and personality. It was his personality that drew our entire family into the wonderful world of the Shih Tzu.
Chris now has another neutered male and three small breeding females.
I moved from Kansas City to Iowa in 2007, back to the country life. Before long I desired to have a dog again. That's where the Shih Tzu came in. I wanted a little dog that I could have a few puppies from without the worry of C-sections. One that was not too high strung, neither too large nor too small. I wanted something that looked like a teddy bear without all the shedding. I kept coming back to the Shih Tzu. The Shih Tzu sounded like the perfect dog. Pearl was my first Shih Tzu puppy. Her wonderfully contagious personality caused everyone in the family, from the immediate to the distant relative, to have to have a Shih Tzu too. I will never be without one or several!!!!!! They totally filled the bill. I call them little angels in doggie bodies.
Mic is my husband of 49 years and the father of our children. He helps me with the pet care, cleaning, and all the remodeling we have done and continue to do. He's also the pastor of our church. He's a busy man, always helping others. Mic has our tallest Shih Tzu, Mickey Mouse, and our smallest breeding female, Cassia. Cassia was mine but everyday he'd go to the large play yard outside and she'd beg him to hold her. She really loves Mic so I gave her to him. He now has two breeding females. His newest female is the only puppy we ever kept from FiFi. Mic named her Sage.
