Shih Tzus make perfect companions and house pets. They are outgoing, happy, affectionate, lively, alert, friendly and trusting towards all. According to AKC Registration Statistics Shih Tzus are one of the most
popular house dogs in the United States.

Shih Tzus are hypoallergenic.  THEY DO NOT SHED!!  Their coats continue to grow. The Shih Tzu's long, flowing double coat is its most distinctive feature. The word Shih Tzu (pronounced 'sheed-'zu, 'sheet-'su) means 'lion'.

SIZE:  They can range in size from 8 to 11 inches tall at the shoulder and 8 to 16 pounds.  All of our breeding stock are 8 to 12 pounds except Toretto.  He is short & stocky weighing in at a solid 13 pounds.  Imperials are 7 pounds or under and can be expensive because of the special care that may be needed for such a tiny puppy.
Although there has always been considerable size variation, the Shih Tzu must be compact, solid, carrying good weight and substance.

COLORS; Black,  black & white,  white,  blue,  blue & white, Brindle,  Brindle & white,  gold,  gold & white,  liver,  liver & white, red,  red & white,  silver,  silver & white. The rare pigment colors, liver (chocolate) and blue (lavender), are dilute genes. Those with the liver colored pigment will not have even one black strand of hair on them.   WE ARE THE HOME OF THE BLACK, LIVER, AND BLUE.

Shih Tzus are very intelligent, they want to please,  and they learn quickly.
Puppies raised in our home will begin litter training at 5 weeks.  By 8 weeks most puppies have completed step 4 of the 7 steps in our litter training.  To continue in our litter training program follow the steps outlined on our TRAINING page.
